Wedding Dance

A well-prepared wedding dance is a beautiful sight. It is romantic, graceful, and smooth – appearing effortless and floating. Every couple, when they think about their wedding dance, wants theirs to be the best. They think of the charm of the result, and often neglect to consider the time and work it takes to achieve a quality arrangement. A good wedding dance needs to be planned in advance.

These are my recommendations for a wedding dance.

  • If you never danced before, you have to learn to dance. It takes time, practice, and money. You will not get away with a couple of classes for the lowest price in your area. Dance classes are not a commodity. Do not shop for a price, but for the quality, or you will be sorry. Also, no instructor will be able to magically turn you into dancers if you do not practice enough, so spend a lot of time rehearsing as you learn.
  • Start looking for the right instructor from the start of your wedding plans. Do not wait until the last moment. When you find one, plan your classes and listen to your instructor’s advice. Chances are that he knows much better than you how to work on a wedding dance.
  • Do not insist on having the music that you have chosen. Consult the dance instructor. Many musical pieces may be attractive as dance music in your opinion but clearly inappropriate for the dance you want to have at your wedding.
  • Do not necessarily ask for private classes. Ask for group classes, too. They are less expensive and often fun. Tell the instructor that after group classes you need a few private classes to prepare something special for your wedding dance.
  • Consider whether you are focused on preparing your wedding dance, getting it over with, and never dancing again, or if you want to learn dancing for your life’s enjoyment. If the first, consider skipping the wedding dance altogether. If the second, do it with a mind to enrich the rest of your life. A wedding dance comes once, but why not take the time now to learn what will bring you pleasure after your wedding, too?
